Research Administration Questions
What aspects of research administration will be affected?
Research administration (RA) will utilize Kuali Coeus – a system that is integrated across both supported programs and compliance. Currently, the MSU RA Team is working with the Kuali Coeus partner schools to develop the system.
Since funding is not yet approved for RA, implementation dates and ultimate functionality at MSU have not yet been determined. Possible functionality may include:

Proposal and budget development.

System to system submissions to Grants.gov.

Award setup, maintenance and closeout.

Sub-awards, negotiation and report tracking.

Protocol submission, review and management for human subjects (IRB).

Conflict of interest disclosure, certification and review.

Protocol submission, review and management for animal subjects (IACUC).

Biosafety.

Chemical Tracking.

Export Controls.
Kuali Coeus will integrate with other enterprise systems at MSU, so that necessary human resource (salaries, positions, etc.) and financial (object code and purchasing information) data will be appropriately accessible.
